The PAWN, Hong Kong

The PAWN @ Wanchai, HK
A few streets from my apartment, this building used to be a big huge Pawn shop in the old days. Now it is nicely restored and functions as a restaurant and bar. Hope to check out this place and have a drink there some day.

Mango mooncakes anyone?

Mango mooncakes anyone?
Wishing everyone happy mid autumn festival. I managed to get my hands on some D24 durian mooncakes here in Sogo too. I hope to eat more mooncakes before they are all gone.

Ki Lung Street @ Sham Shui Po (Prince Edward), HK Market @ Sham Shui Po, Hong Kong
New fellow urbansketchers from HK
This is my warm up sketch I did at the very charming road side market. I met Gary and Jamaika at Prince Edward mtr station and we went to explore Sham Shui Po area. It is nice to see the old Hong Kong.

Ki Lung Street @ Sham Shui Po (Prince Edward), HK

This is the second sketch. I set next to this really old charming road side stores selling all sorts of dried stuff. The old lady owner of the stall was looking over my shoulder every now and then to see my sketch. We had plenty of passerby who stopped to look. Some even thought we were from urban development officers out on patrol. I was holding my breath quite a bit because of the smelling drain nearby. Sight and smell all rolled into one interesting experience.

Anthurium is also called the Flamingo flower. Sketched this when I visited a friend's house on Sunday. The red is stunning against a green leafy background.

Bangkok, Thailand

Crispy Chicken Noodle @ Noodi, Bangkok
Crispy Chicken Noodle @ Noodi, Bangkok

This crispy noodle served with stewed chicken is always my favourite must-eat when I visit Bangkok. Condiments like sugar and chili flakes are standard items on the table at almost every thai restaurant.

Jim Thompson's House, Bangkok

Jim Thompson's was an American businessman who helped revitalize the Thai silk and textile industry in the 1950s and 1960s. He lived in Bangkok after the war. It was delightful for me to visit his very charming thai house last weekend whilst I was attending training in Bangkok. He has an eye for details largely due to his study in architecture.
